Revelations is a therapeutic tool for teachers, therapists and parents, developed by Arvick Baghramian, with the help of several children. The idea for this game arose from therapeutic work with children who had difficulty communicating themselves. Talking about our emotions is often hard, and for children who are experiencing any kind of emotional distress, this task is often made impossible. Revelations is specifically designed to help children communicate their thoughts and feelings to parents, teachers, and therapists, with ease and even have fun while doing so!
Like the TAT (Thematic Apperception Test) and the Rorschach inkblot test, Revelations makes use of projective techniques and story telling, to allow children to open up at their own time and on their own terms. By encouraging children to tell stories prompted by particular images on the game cards, revelations allows the child to communicate themselves, and any anxieties or difficulties they might be experiencing, in an indirect manner. This technique frequently yields results that direct questioning or confrontation fail to achieve, and helps children to open up and tell us what is really on their minds.
